Bearfort Ridge Trail Inaccessible Due to Storm Damage

Downed trees from severe wind storms on May 23rd has affected the Bearfort Ridge Loop in Abram S. Hewitt State Forest. Portions of the eastern leg of the loop (highlighted in red) are impassable. Significant blowdowns also affect the western leg of the loop, as well as the West Ridge Trail (both highlighted in yellow). Recovery and re-opening may take several weeks. Hikers wishing to explore this area should consider alternate hikes including the State Line Trail, the Terrace Pond area, or Wawayanda State Park
