Discovered this hike through

Discovered this hike through the Scenic Hudson website, who have a number of great, well maintained day-hiking trails of varying difficulty and features to suit your wants and needs. I think Shaupeneak Ridge is one of their hidden gems. There are a number of trails in there that you can use to make your hike as long or short as you want (up to about 9 miles I think if you did every loop) and various land features to traverse. Note: as of this writing there is a new loop off the orange trail that hasn't made it on the maps yet. Most of the terrain is moderate, but the hike to the overlook on the red or white trails can be tiring. There is also another parking area further inside by the pond/marsh, just continue driving on Old Post Rd, right on Poppletown Rd and it's a little ways on the left. A great little spot to spend a couple of hours in the woods.
