NEEDED: Asian Longhorned Beetle Survey Volunteers!

Body

Three State Campgrounds in Catskills to Be Surveyed
Nov. 1, 2, and/or 3 - 9:30AM

Asian long-horned beetle.NYSDEC will be surveying for signs of Asian longhorned beetle (ALB) in three Catskill Mountain state campgrounds next week. The specific sites are Mongaup Pond campground in Livingston Manor (11/1), Woodland Valley campground in Phoenicia (11/2), and North/South Lake campground in Haines Falls (11/3).

These sites were identified as being visited by people with zipcodes from in and around the Worcester, Massachusetts area (a large infestation was found there in 2008) and are considered high risk for ALB introduction. The surveys will commence at 9:30am each day.

Volunteers should bring binoculars, warm clothes, water, snacks, and a GPS if you have one. All volunteers will need to fill out a volunteer form. If you are interested, please email or call Erin Brady at [email protected] or 607-652-3694.
