The groups listed here support trails with their membership in the Trail Conference. Click through to their websites or use the contact information provided to learn more about them and how to join. Many welcome guests on hikes.  Hiking with one of the clubs is a great way for beginners to learn both about how to hike and where the trails are.

Byram Township (NJ) Environmental Commission -  Promotes conservation and development of township resources, leads natural resources planning, and informs public about local conservation programs.

Canal Society of New Jersey - The CSNJ is a non-profit organization formed in 1969 to foster the study of the history of New Jersey's two towpath canals, preserve and restore canal remains and artifacts, educate the public in the canals' histories and provide enjoyment to its members by visiting canals and other historic sites.

Catskill 3500 Club - Founded in 1962 to foster interest in hiking in the Catskills. Membership is open to anyone who has climbed on foot each of the 35 Catskill peaks above 3500 feet in elevation.

Catskill Center for Conservation & Development - Protect Catskill landscape; Promote healthy, sustainable communities; Foster regional arts, culture & education; yr-round hikes & outing event calendar. Lectures.

Closter Nature Center Association - 136 acres of ponds, brooks, meadows and forests open to all local residents, providing informative monthly lectures and nature walks for the general public, schools, or scout groups.

East Coast Greenway Alliance -  Promotes creating and protecting a planned 3,000-mile East Coast Greenway connecting 25 major cities and friendly for bike and pedestrian use.

Friends of Garret Mountain - Environmental group committed to preserve and protect Garret Mountain and Rifle Camp Parks in Passaic Co., NJ. Birding, botany and general walks. Members welcome. Contact Norma Holmes, 973-746-8933.

Friends of Hackensack River - Supports and encourages the development, maintenance and use of the Hackensack River Greenway through Teaneck.

Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct - The Old Croton Aqueduct is a National Historic Landmark and the longest thinnest Historic State Park in NY, averaging 60 feet wide and spanning 26.2 miles from Van Cortlandt Park to the Croton Dam.

Friends of Pelham Bay Park- largest park in New York City. They recruit, train and supervise volunteers to plant trees, remove invasive plants and maintain the park’s hiking and riding trails. Click to check out their upcoming events.

Jolly Rovers - The Jolly Rovers are an all-volunteer trail crew specializing in wilderness stonework. The crew holds weekend trips every month from March-November to tackle technical stonework projects in public parks throughout the eastern United States.

New Jersey Search and Rescue -Provides trained volunteer search personnel throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and beyond, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Queens Parks Trails Club - Part of the Forest Park Trust, Inc
